Tour de Fat

Tour de Fat Poster

Dress up your bike and get your costume ready because Tour de Fat is returning to Seattle!

Tour de Fat
Saturday, July 31
10am – 5pm
Gasworks Park, Seattle

Organized by those bike-loving folks at New Belgium Brewing, Tour de Fat is a celebration of all things bicycle. This rolling carnival features a costumed bike parade for children and adults, music and other live performances, a car-for-bike swap, beer garden and food vendors. And all this wacky fun and goodness benefits the work of the Bicycle Alliance of Washington and Bike Works.

Volunteers Needed!   We need volunteers to help make this event a success. We need folks to check IDs, sell beer tokens, serve beer, serve water, and help with clean up. Not only will you earn our undying gratitude, but you’ll receive a Tour de Fat t-shirt and a couple of beer tokens for your efforts. Volunteers must be 21 or older since assignments are in the beer garden.
Contact Louise McGrody if you’d like to help. Specify your preferences for morning or afternoon shifts.

And don’t forget your costume!

RAPSody - Ride Around Puget Sound : Aug 28-29, 2010

RAPSody Bike Ride

The Ride Around Puget Sound (RAPSody) has always been a unique cycling event. Five bike clubs work together to organize the ride in support of the Bicycle Alliance of Washington. As a ride by cyclists for cyclists, the route is challenging and the food is exceptional. The event lives up to its name by offering live music along the way and scenery that reminds you why we live in the great Northwest.

The 170-mile route starts and ends at Tacoma Community College, where free overnight parking is available. At the halfway point, there's free indoor and outdoor camping and a live band at Shelton High School, where for an extra fee you can enjoy root beer floats, massage and on-site meals supporting a local youth center.

Registration also includes souvenir socks, mechanical and ride support, luggage transport, showers and ice cream bars to celebrate the finish on Sunday. Riders can complete the ride in one or two days.

RAPSody is a fundraiser for the Bicycle Alliance of Washington's statewide bike advocacy and education efforts. The event is organized by West Sound Cycling Club, Tacoma Wheelmen's Bicycle Club, Cyclists of Greater Seattle, The Capital Bicycle Club, and B.I.K.E.S. of Snohomish County. Organizers hope to raise $25,000 to help the Bicycle Alliance support bicycle-friendly legislation, facilities and policies around the state.

Cost is $80 through July 27. Save money by signing up early and joining the Bicycle Alliance. Registration closes on Aug. 20.

For more information, visit www.rapsodybikeride.com or call Betty at (253) 857-5658.. You can register online at www.active.com.
