Barb Chamberlain [Executive Director]
SeattleBarb joined the Bicycle Alliance as executive director after serving as an Idaho state legislator followed by 14-1/2 years at Washington State University Spokane, where she headed external relations and communications and spent most of her “spare” time volunteering on biking and active transportation policy and promotional efforts. She founded Spokane Bikes (formerly Bike to Work Spokane) in 2007 with the help of the Bicycle Alliance and is thrilled to have come full circle to be working with the BAW. Barb started her Bike Style blog [http://bikestylespokane.com/] to encourage more women to ride (no matter what they’re wearing) and founded WomenBikeBlogs.com, which may just be the most comprehensive list of women’s bike blogs available on the Web. She and her bike-racing husband Eric Abbott have four children from middle school to college age and go for long rides in search of good coffee.
Elliott Bangs [Operations Manager]
Seattle

A life-long Puget Sounder, Elliott manages all things administrative at the Bicycle Alliance, as well as the King County Metro bicycle locker program, distribution of the Seattle Bicycle Guidemap, graphic design of The Advocate newsletter, and a myriad of other small but important needs. He recently returned from a six-month solo bicycle journey which took him from Seattle to the Panama Canal — but he finds his daily cross-town commute to be more adventurous. While not working or riding, he is an aspiring fiction writer, web designer, and cookie baker.

Jack Hilovsky [Fund Development and Membership Manager]
SeattleJack oversees BAW’s efforts in fund and membership development, and marketing. He enjoys building relationships and seeking out new partnerships in the community. An avid cyclist around his Capitol Hill neighborhood, Jack has ridden his bike along the Western coast of Ireland, down Pacific Coast Highway, and throughout the San Juan Islands. He loves all the ways bicycling contributes to an enhanced world: cleaner air, less dependence on foreign oil, better health, and friendlier, more interactive neighborhoods.
Louise McGrody [Communications and Outreach]
SeattleLouise has been at the BAW since 1994 and is the institutional memory of the organization. She produces the e-newsletter, The Advocate, and generates many of the email communications. Louise also assists advocates with bike projects and issues in their communities, provides advocacy training, and coordinates the annual auction. Outside of the BAW she can be found hiking and skiing in the Cascades.
Josh Miller [Go By Bike Program Manager]
SeattleJosh is a long-time bicycling enthusiast. He joined the Bicycle Alliance in the April 2011 to lead the Go by Bike program. In addition to a lifetime of utility and recreational bicycling, Josh had an earlier career in the bicycle industry and in his graduate studies he studied the connections between bicycling, the built environment and urban planning. He has worked on various urban and regional planning projects in the Northwest and beyond. When he’s not fulfilling his love of bicycling he can be found hiking, skiing, climbing, photographing or working on various carpentry and woodworking projects.
Seth Schromen-Wawrin [Safe Routes to School Program Manager]
SeattleSeth joined the Bicycle Alliance in early 2011 to coordinate our statewide Safe Routes to School trainings. He received a Master of Urban Planning and Management from Aalborg, Denmark before returning home to Washington to work on mobility and public space. Outside of the office you will find him playing in parks and tromping around in the woods.
Blake Trask [Policy Director]
SeattleBlake Trask directs policy programs, including direct advocacy in Olympia, working with agencies and stakeholder groups, and engaging with bicycle clubs and other interested organizations across the state. His experience on environmental planning and policy, stakeholder involvement, and work with numerous local and state agencies provides the Bicycle Alliance smart analysis and inclusive approaches to advancing policy priorities. Blake’s roots in Washington stretch back to a homestead in Cheney, a honeymoon at the 1909 Yukon-Pacific Exposition, farming on Maury Island, and logging across the outer coast. He’s passionate to help make the public’s right-of-way safer for all users across the state. When not at work, Blake enjoys time with his wife, Courtney, and baby daughter, Adelaide.
